The Museum of the City of New York is hosting a temporary exhibition titled He Built This City: Joe Macken’s Model, showcasing an intricate physical replica of New York City. Built over a 21-year period, the massive installation measures 50 feet by 27 feet and is constructed entirely from balsa wood and cardboard.

The exhibition offers visitors a detailed, physical perspective of the city's urban landscape, representing a monumental effort in manual modeling. Prominent technology blogger Simon Willison recently highlighted the exhibition, noting that the scale and detail of the physical model exceeded his expectations.

The exhibition is scheduled to close on October 12th. For those interested in urban design, architecture, or historical modeling, the museum recommends visiting the installation before its run ends.
