xAI and Cursor have released Team Bots in public beta for Teams and Enterprise plans, transforming the single-user Grok Bot into a collaborative agent. Operating within Slack and a desktop app, these bots combine shared instructions, files, plugins, credentials, and memories. While the bot maintains a unified operating context for the group, individual team members can hold private direct chats that retain user-specific memory.

The company highlighted several internal use cases to demonstrate the system's capabilities. In one engineering trial, a five-person team reportedly used a Team Bot to manage a Cursor Project, coordinating multiple Cloud Agents to file tickets and dispatch code. xAI claims this setup helped the team ship more than 100 pull requests per day and complete a launch within weeks, though details regarding pull-request size or defect rates were not disclosed. For data teams, a specialized Data Bot can query approved Databricks tables—drawing on two years of curated skills covering over 45,000 tables—while integrating with Datadog, Hex, and Statsig.

This release builds on the personal Grok Bot beta launched in August. Access has expanded from initial tiers like SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra (priced at approximately $200 per month), and Cursor Teams Premium (about $120 per seat per month) to include all SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and Cursor Teams subscribers.

For developers and enterprise administrators, Team Bots offer a centralized alternative to platforms like Anthropic's Claude Enterprise or OpenAI's ChatGPT Business. However, practitioners should note that xAI has not yet detailed critical security features. The company has not specified credential scoping, secret rotation, prompt-injection defenses, or how the bot isolates processes and storage between different users on the same account.
